Burnaby Neighbourhoods

Brentwood

Willingdon Avenue, Springer Avenue, Hastings and Lougheed are the border points of Brentwood. This North Burnaby neighbourhood has two stations on the Millennium Line (Brentwood and Holdom) and appeals to families. Brentwood boasts two large parks (Brentwood and Springer), as well as its own mall, Brentwood Town Centre.

Burnaby Heights

Burnaby Heights is full of character and has enviable views. ‘The Heights’ sits at the edge of Burrard Inlet and faces the North Shore Mountains.  Here you’ll find some very prestigious homes, all within easy reach of the 100 year old community of shops and restaurants that the neighbourhood is famous for.

Burnaby Mountain

Home to Simon Fraser University, and close to the tracks of the West Coast Express, Burnaby Mountain is not the wildest of mountains, though the conservation area ensures that a diverse and interesting array of BC’s wildlife is protected and therefore might be spotted from time to time, especially if you indulge in the many hiking trails available. From here, you’ll also be privy to the incredible view up Indian Arm, as well as being able to see the Kamui Mintara (Playground of the Gods) sculptures, which are particularly spectacular by sunset.

Deer Lake

Deer Lake is within a 304 hectare park, which will make you feel like you’re far away from any city.  You can rent boats or kayaks at Deer Lake Boat Rental and relax on the lake itself, or try out one of the many hiking trails.  When you want to return to civilization, you’ll find you’re within easy reach of Burnaby Art Gallery, the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, and Burnaby Village Museum.

Edmonds

Located in South East Burnaby and with access to the Expo Line, Edmonds centres around the award-winning Community and Aquatic Centre, which offers a plethora of activities and events for all ages and abilities.

Lougheed

Lougheed is in East Burnaby and borders the city of Coquitlam.  It’s served by the Millennium Line and Lougheed Town Centre has been redeveloped, now offering a huge array of stores, services events, and conveniences.

Metrotown

In South West Burnaby, and bordering Vancouver, Metrotown boasts the largest shopping mall in BC, Metropolis at Metrotown, including a large cinema. It is also home to Central Park, which is a 90 hectare park where you can find some tranquility. Available amenities include: tennis courts; outdoor pool; pitch n putt; or take in an event at Swangard Stadium. Alternatively, you can find more to do at the incredible Bonsor Recreation Complex.
