Surrey Neighbourhoods

Cloverdale

The historic buildings of Cloverdale, such as those on Main Street, are a memento of Surrey’s early beginnings in 1870, as a small farm community.  No longer such a small community, however, Cloverdale has a thriving agricultural industry and is world-renowned for the Cloverdale Rodeo.  The Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre hosts Western Canada’s largest Canada Day celebration, along with other events throughout the year.

Fleetwood

Fleetwood is one of the fastest-growing neighbourhoods in Surrey and, with its suburban feel, you’ll find plenty of residential opportunities, along with recreational options (Surrey Sports and Leisure Complex is one not to miss), parks, and restaurants. Fleetwood Gardens is the jewel in the crown, as an perfect place to find beauty, calm and space to meditate on your thoughts.

Guildford

Guildford is a shopper’s paradise. It has the second largest mall in British Columbia, as well as plenty of other stores and restaurants. It has housing options to suit everyone and even has an escape to the forest and riverways, Tynehead Regional Park and Surrey Bend Regional Park.  The oldest settlement of Guildford was in Port Kells in 1891.

Newton

Settled in 1886, Newton is culturally rich and diverse and offers a plethora of stores and restaurants.  A large Vaisakhi Parade takes place annually, and there are plenty of entertainment opportunities via the Bell Performing Arts Centre and the Newton Cultural Centre. Newton is also home to the historic village of Sullivan.

North Surrey

Arguably the most bustling neighbourhood in Surrey, North Surrey has attracted a lot of educational and cultural institutions. North Surrey is home to a Simon Fraser University campus and the award-winning City Centre Library.  Live music can be found at Holland Park and, if beer’s your thing, you’ll be glad to know that Red Racer is made here, by Central City Brewers & Distillers.

South Surrey

If you like to keep away from the hustle and bustle, then South Surrey may be the neighbourhood for you.  South Surrey boasts lots of green spaces and golf courses.  Here, you’ll be able to see as far as the mountains and enjoy a more peaceful environment. Home to Crescent Beach, a popular tourist spot for sunbathing and promenading, you can also enjoy a breathe of sea air whenever the whim takes you. South Surrey borders the US and also boasts the largest grove of Redwood trees in Canada. It also has a thriving arts community.
