Richmond Neighbourhoods

City Centre

Richmond was credited with having the Best Asian Food in North America, by the New York Times.  With such a rave review, don’t miss out on experiencing the cuisine yourself.  Not sure where to start? Why not get yourself onto the Dumpling Trail and see if you can spot some of the remarkable public art installations while touring?  The city centre is also home to the famous Richmond Night Market, which consistently places in the top tourist attractions of Metro Vancouver.  The city has ample entertainment, including the Gateway Theatre, Richmond Museum & Cultural Centre, and the River Rock Casino Resort.  If you’d prefer to take it easy, you’ll also find Minoru Park close by.

East Richmond

East Richmond provides clear evidence of Richmond’s agricultural history.  With the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR), and with lots of working farmland, you can retreat from the city to country life very easily.  You can take in Richmond Nature Park & House, to learn about the local habitat and wildlife.  You’ll also be able to benefit from all manner of farm specialties, including ‘pick-your-own’, fresh produce, pumpkin patches, wagon rides, horse-riding, and petting zoos!

Sea Island

YVR is one of the largest international airports in Canada, second only to Toronto Pearson International. Having it nearby is a bit of a score, no matter where it is you’d like to travel to.  In stark comparison to the hustle and bustle of the airport, you’ll also be within reach of Iona Beach Regional Park, a stunning stretch of beach, from which you can enjoy peace, observe wildlife and gaze out over the wide expanse of the Strait of Georgia.

South Arm

Surrounded by the ALR, it’s easy to forget how close you are to the city, but you’ll still have easy access to the amenities of Ironwood and Shelmont Shopping Centres, not to mention a large movie theatre, skate park, and Watermania.

Steveston

Steveston is an amazing and incredibly picturesque town, which has featured in several tv shows and movies, not least of which is Once Upon A Time, which has really put Steveston on the map for the rest of the world.  Aside from spotting film locations, you can spend hours enjoying the seaside feel of Fisherman’s Wharf and the Britannia Shipyards.  The Gulf of Georgia Cannery has tours and events year-round, and a big Salmon Festival takes place in the town each year.  Garry Point Park is a good place to relax, feel the breeze, and do some bird-watching.  You’ll also find fresh fish and chips, plenty of ice cream, a craft market and farmers market, all conspiring to make you feel like you’re on vacation.

Thomson

Thomson is best known for Terra Nova Park, which is a large and innovative play area, where children are encouraged to reconnect with nature and play on wooden structures, rather than the conventional playgrounds that we’ve become accustomed to.  Situated amongst trees and close to the Fraser River, it’s a great place to play and reconnect with the natural environment of BC.  You’ll also find Quilchena Golf Course close by, another great way to relax and reconnect with nature!

West Richmond

West Richmond is a mainly residential area, with added amenities, such as the Seafair Shopping Centre.  Whilst more residential, there are still plenty of parks and bike trails, to help you maintain a relaxed pace of life, as well as the West Richmond Pitch n Putt nearby.
